Nordisk Games appoints Stefanía Halldórsdóttir as CEO and Ásgeir Kröyer as CFO

Avalanche Studios Group’s CEO and CFO take on the group leadership alongside their existing roles, as Allan Mathson Hansen concludes his tenure as interim CEO.

Nordisk Games today announced the appointment of Stefanía Halldórsdóttir as Chief Executive Officer and Ásgeir Kröyer as Chief Financial Officer, effective Nov 2, 2026. Both will continue as CEO and CFO of Avalanche Studios Group, which they have helped build, and will lead Nordisk Games alongside it from Stockholm.

The appointments follow the operational partnership between Avalanche Studios Group and Supermassive Games announced earlier this month, and mark the completion of the leadership transition Allan Mathson Hansen has guided as interim CEO. Allan Mathson Hansen becomes chair of Nordisk Games, and returns his day-to-day focus to his role as CEO of Nordisk Film. Under Halldórsdóttir’s leadership, Avalanche Studios Group has delivered its strongest years in the studio’s history and enters 2027 ahead of plan.

“Finding the right long-term leadership for Nordisk Games has been important. The more time I spent understanding our studios, the clearer it became that the answer was already here,” said Allan Mathson Hansen. “Stefanía and Ásgeir have built Avalanche Studios Group into everything we want our studios to be: creatively ambitious, operationally excellent and growing. Putting that experience at the center of Nordisk Games is the natural next step for the group. With this new leadership in place, we look forward to continuing to pursue our growth ambitions within games.”

“I'm proud to take this on, and grateful to Allan for the foundation he's laid and the trust he's shown," said Stefanía Halldórsdóttir. "Nordisk Games should be an active owner that gives its studios what they need to do their best work. For us, that starts with investing in the games and the teams behind them. Our studios lead their games creatively, and everything we do as an owner is in service of that work; that's the reason this group works. Ásgeir and I will continue to lead from Stockholm, which remains home for us.”
