Nordisk Games announces publishing partnership between Avalanche Studios Group and Supermassive Games

Avalanche Studios Group takes on global publishing for Supermassive Games’ titles, beginning with Directive 8020.

Nordisk Games today announced a strategic partnership between two of its studios, Avalanche Studios Group and Supermassive Games, creating a stronger shared foundation for both teams. Under the agreement, Avalanche Studios Group will take on global publishing, marketing, and distribution for Supermassive’s Directive 8020, marking the first game in a long-term collaboration.

The partnership brings together Avalanche’s proven publishing track record with Supermassive’s craft in narrative horror. Beyond publishing, the collaboration extends to shared operational support across finance, people, and IT, while both studios remain fully creatively independent, with complete ownership of their games, creative direction, and development roadmaps.

"This is about setting our studios up for sustainable, long-term success," said Allan Mathson Hansen, CEO of Nordisk Film &Nordisk Games. "In a shifting industry, our priority is giving teams the focus they need to do what they do best. A shared foundation allows resources to flow directly into game creation and new ideas. Avalanche brings proven publishing strength and operational maturity, while Supermassive brings world-class storytelling and craft. It reflects our commitment as an active owner investing in our studios."

"The passion and support that 2 million monthly players continue to show for theHunter: Call of the Wild nine years after launch reaffirms the strength of our publishing and live-service operations,"said Stefanía Halldórsdóttir, CEO of Avalanche Studios Group. "The team at Supermassive has built an incredible 18-year legacy of creating immersive horror experiences. By providing the publishing and operational backing, we look forward to supporting their ongoing journey and bringing their games to even more players worldwide."

Supermassive Games continues development across its slate, including its ongoing work with partners across the industry.
